Welcome to Sweetyoga - come and experience the pleasures and benefits of yoga!
I’m a fully qualified yoga teacher, trained through the prestigious Life Centre in London where the syllabus is for serious takers only! The course is accredited by UK Governing Body of Yoga, The British Wheel of Yoga and allows me membership to the Register of Exercise Professionals in UK and Europe.
I’m thankful to have had Graham Burns as my course mentor and to all other teachers/students who have taught me more than you realise. Thank you and much respect to the roots and knowledge from the following internationally renowned teachers too; Shiva Rea, Judith Lasater, Rod Stryker, AG Mohan and Scott Blossom.
My teaching focuses on alignment in postures making them accessible whatever your form. Then I subtly introduce breath awareness to enhance the body-breath union (yoga translated means union). Without straining the muscles you work to a level where you feel equally strong and flexible. Here comes the best bit! At the end of the practice I invite you to relax deeply to allow for harmony physically and mentally.
You don’t need to be fit or flexible to have a go at yoga, you just need to have an open mind. I recall my first lesson a decade ago and to this day I’m committed to a practice which keeps evolving. It’s not the easiest path but its one that’s accessible as you progress through time, always there whatever the circumstance. BKS Iyengar said fairly early on in his journey he could see that yoga would have as many benefits for his head and heart as it did for his body, how true this is! Why not let yoga become a part of your life on and off your yoga mat.
I teach both public and private hatha yoga lessons in the Beiras region of Central Portugual, an environment that’s conducive to starting or growing a yoga practice. If your schedule doesn’t allow a weekly lesson why not indulge yourself in one of the many workshops when the topic captures your attention.
I hope you enjoy exploring the Sweetyoga website and return from time to time. In the future I will be bringing you recipes from the Sweetyoga Ayurvedic Kitchen using the ancient Indian natural healing system.
Namaste from Justine
