Oxfordshire Weekend Retreat 8 – 10 November, 2024
Join me for a two night, midweek retreat in a 13th Century Manor House in Oxfordshire. Upon entering this historic building you feel the peaceful vibes left behind by the monks who once lived here. Our morning practices will be balanced with afternoon relaxation, mindful meditations, breath techniques (useful if you have had Covid), walks in the grounds and the opportunity to ask questions and explore alternatives to suit your current needs. With time pressures removed, my guidance on hand whilst practicing in a special environment may set the foundations for change.
8 – 10 November, 2023, arrive & depart 2.30pm
Charney Manor, Charney Bassett, Wantage, Oxfordshire, OX12 0EJ, UK
All rooms are either singles or twins and mostly ensuite. The standard is high, very clean and comfortable whilst considering the buildings character. All bedrooms come equipped with tea and coffee making facilities, towels, complimentary shower gel and most have exquisite views of the gardens.
In the yoga practices we will explore various movements, some familiar and some possibly new to you. As we pay a great deal of attention to what’s happening down at a deep level, I’ll encourage you to stay with that as it rolls to the surface and this means your poses may look different to your neighbours.
The invitation to be more in your internal space as opposed to the external is how we can practice therapeutically and acknowledge what is happening on all levels; mentally, emotionally and physically.
During out time together we will practice actively (unhurried vinyasa), passively (restorative yoga) interwoven with mindful meditations sitting and walking outside in nature. The number of people that book will determine which room is used for yoga.
CHARNEY MANOR RETREAT CENTRE
I chose Charney Manor for it’s idyllic and peaceful retreat setting in the Oxfordshire countryside.
Some parts of the manor house date back to the thirteenth century and it’s regarded as a haven of tranquillity and ideal for reflection, renewal and relaxation.
The Manor is surrounded by 3 acres of beautiful grounds that include mature trees, horse paddock, a secret garden, a fruit orchard and tranquil seating areas. There are lovely walks through the old village and along the meandering river Ock.
Next door to The Manor is St Peters Church, part of the church dates back to the 12th Century.
